Hope When It’s Hard

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”' ― Fred Rogers.

These past few days have been sad and scary for a lot of people. And, just like Mr. Rogers’ mother used to tell him, there are helpers everywhere. Friends who are safe and supportive. Businesses that are adding benefits. Voters that are ready to vote.

Having hope isn’t about miracle solutions - although sometimes those happen and it’s great when they do. Hope is about finding and generating pathways when we hit barriers. Every roadblock means that we just need to find more pathways. That’s what the helpers are doing. Finding new paths. Spreading hope.

Let’s move hopeward, together.
