Hope is more than just a feeling – it’s a belief that things can and will get better, and that we have the power to make it happen.
Hope helps us stay focused on the possibilities for the future, even in the face of adversity. Dr. Rick Snyder, a pioneer in the study of hope, defined hope in two parts: 1) the belief that the future can be different, and 2) the belief that you have the power to make it different (Snyder, C.R., 2002).
When we have hope, we are more likely to set goals, take action towards achieving them, and persevere in the face of setbacks. Research has shown that higher levels of hope have been associated with better academic performance, improved physical health, and more positive life outcomes. Additionally, hope can serve as a buffer against stress and anxiety, helping us to cope with difficult situations and bounce back from adversity.
At Hopeward, we believe that hope has a direct impact on the work that you do. As hope champions we help generate pathways to address the challenges of nonprofit and social service work. We believe in supporting and developing hope champions within the organizations we partner with and provide coaching, encouragement, and model a hope mindset regardless of the work we do together.
We know that if we want to make real change for people and communities, we need to do more than just move in a forward direction- we need to move hopeward.
The Hopeward Team is committed to helping individuals and organizations cultivate hope, so that they can create the future they want to see. Join us in moving Hopeward, and let’s create a better world together.
